Although I am not a total novice when it comes to posting my life online (I am on Facebook, after all), I have never before given in to the urge to inflict my opinions, rants, thoughts, reviews, etc. on the unsuspecting public. So, if you’ve found your way here and read past the first sentence, thanks. And hello, gentle Reader. Perhaps one day you will even be bold enough to comment on the ramblings you stumble across on this site, but until that time, I shall consign you to the realms of my imagination and fondly suppose that I have an army of fans, hanging on my every word.

Seriously, though, if there are any deluded people out there hanging on any of my words, don’t. I talk a lot of bollocks. Arty bollocks, yes, but bollocks nonetheless.

I hope, however, that this site will be slightly more than a vehicle for my ego, but a place to post observations that might have some value to other arty-types. I don’t intend to post to a schedule, as I reckon that’s probably the best way to become bored and boring. If I see or hear or read something particularly good or bad, I will probably write about it, but I’ll spare you the mediocre stuff that most of us spend most of our time wading through. Like treacle.

Since this first post does seem to contain a lot of ‘I’, I may as well do the obligatory intro bit here and now and get it out of the way. I’ve just graduated from Warwick University with a BA in English Literature, and have been working as Editorial Coordinator for ArtsProfessional magazine for 3 weeks. It’s fun, I’m reading stuff and writing stuff and editing stuff, which are some of the things that make me happy. Other happy-making activities (that sounds ruder than I intended it to…) are seeing good theatre, watching good films – and occasionally films so-bad-they’re-good – , reading good books, talking to interesting people, cooking, eating, hanging out with friends etc, writing my own stuff (hence the site) and occasionally trying to get published. And yes, I know English isn’t a real degree, and I do own a beret. In my defence, I only wear it when it’s actually cold.

So, there I am. Or rather, there is a shallow over-view that I’m willing to share with the world. There is/is going to be some of my writing up around the site, feedback/critique always welcome, as are book contracts with huge advances.
